Jackie and I played Friday night at the Expresso Royale in downtown Ann Arbor.

Pretty much the whole U of M track team showed up, along with Meghan, Bill, Meghan, and Marisa.

I've managed to forget the set list, so if any of you kids that were there remember, feel free to comment.

Not much to say about this one other than it went well, and there was a lot of applause.

Pictures beyond the cut!!!Collapse )

You guys busy Friday?

As the poster says, Jackie and I are playing an acoustic set for a benefit thing over in AA at the Expresso Royal on State Street, near Borders and the theaters. We're only playing about twenty or thirty minutes, but we could probably be pursuaded to hang out afterwards, if anyone's interested.

The fantastic poster was made by the wonderful scotlanded.

STC is playing this Friday for the APHS Senior Class all night party, which is a strictly invitation-only event. Saturday night we're playing the K of C lounge in AP, from roughly 830 to midnight. Any out-of-towners that plan on coming, comment here or IM me (AIM - whatuhhh) for directions. Come early, as space is limited. No cover will be charged, though we do encourage you to purchase food and drinks.

Beyond that, STC is playing again at Serendipity on June 10th from 6-9, with other shows in the early planning stages. Currently we're slated to be playing at the K of C picnic on a Sunday next month, I think, and are looking into a possible slot at the Allen Park street fair in early August. From the looks of things, we'll be playing nearly every weekend, sometimes twice a weekend. With this in mind we're practicing more than ever, and working hard to bring you the quality originals and wide range of covers that you've come to expect.

We've been working with a few of our artistic-leaning friends to work out some logos/shirt designs and may be introducing some shirts/hoodies/stickers/etc for people to buy soon. Leave a comment and let us know what products you'd like to see. Right now the logo as conceived by Katie and Meghan looks like this -

As we're not currently selling any CDs, we encourage you to send MP3s of STC to your friends, should you feel the need to "pimp" us. We'd be "down" with that, "yo." We are planning on making some new recordings over the summer to get our new and revised originals preserved. Whether or not these'll be released as a CD or shared freely online is up for debate right now.

More STC news as it develops. Same STC time, same STC channel.

Reminder - STC will be playing Serendipity in Allen Park from 6pm-9pm on Thursday, May 19th. If enough people come, it'll turn into a regular gig for the band, so everyone should come.

In other news, we'll be playing at least three times this summer at the Knights of Columbus in AP. The first time will be Saturday, June 4th, from about 830 to midnight. More information will be posted on that and the other dates soon.

STC will be playing Serendipity in Allen Park on Thursday, May 19th. If the gig goes well and there's a decent turnout it'll turn into a regular summer gig. So bring your friends parents, pets, whoever. The address is on the poster for those of you not down with AP.

December Status Report [Dec. 9th, 2004|11:01 pm]

STC is playing at The Yule Ball on December 22nd. It's a charity event featuring dinner, STC and another live band, and dancing. Tickets are $30 per person or $50 per couple if purchased by the 13th, and can be bought using Paypal at http://www.yuleballdetroit.com. If you don't have Paypal but would still like to attend you can give me money and I'll use my Paypal account to buy the tickets for you.

STCAcoustic (Dena, Jackie, and myself) is playing at Serendipity on December 30th from 6pm to 9. There's no cover, though tips are appreciated.

We had a great show at the Father Saylor K of C in Allen Park on December 2nd. A few pictures can be found online here.

Looking ahead, we're hoping to play the K of C again and turn the gig at Serendipity into a regular thing. This summer we should be playing a lot more, and hopefully we'll be able to get back in the studio to work on getting some better recordings of our original songs, and maybe a few of the newer covers.

Speaking of covers, Jackie, Dena, and I are looking for suggestions of acoustc-based songs that people out there thing we should learn.

Poll #400673 What acoustic-based songs should STCAcoustic learn?

What acoustc-based songs should STCAcoustic learn?

I'm not sure if the poll worked, so just leave a normal comment if that's that case.

[music |a new song we're working on....]

For those of you whose grad parties we are playing at this summer, this is one last chance to request any songs for us to learn by then. Since there is less than a month between now and when your parties are, we need to start learning these NOW, and since there wasn't a big response on the last entry about this, we're giving you one more chance :)

Here is a list of the songs we currently know and are working on.Collapse )

You can pick a set list yourself so that we know how long we'll be playing for. Each song is between 3-5 minutes, so you can figure it out from there. If you don't come up with one, we'll come up with it ourselves, but let us know how long you want us to play for, and whether we should plan on more than one set.

Okay. If you want to request a song, leave a comment on THIS ENTRY or to my journal (I x-posted this there, but it'd be better if you left one here, so we have them all together in one comment thread). Pleeeeeeeeease respond ASAP, guys. Thank you muchly ^_^

Quick Update [Apr. 6th, 2004|10:58 pm]

[music |None]

STC will be playing at the following graduation parties -

June 19th...um...12th! - Bill Alexander
June 20th - Jess Kowlongowski
June 26th - Sarah Hoerl
June 27th - Ashley Bate

If you are one of those people and have any specific set you want us to play or any songs you'd like us to take a shot at learning, leave a comment here. If anyone else reading this would like us to play at your party, leave a comment or get a hold of someone in the band.

The band has two different CDs available now. The first, Songs In The Key Of Hott, costs $5 and features the four songs we recorded in December - Invisible, Porchlight, Good Enough, and The Ballad Of Barbara Allen. The second is a compilation of Self-Titled and Songs In The Key Of Hott, and costs $7. It has all of our original songs thus far. Both CDs are on back order right now, so if you'd like one either leave a comment here or get a hold of any of the band members.

During the December recording session, we also recorded our cover versions of In My Life, Say It Ain't So, and Eleanor Rigby. We can't put them on the CD for copyright reasons, but I can send them to you for free over the internet. Also available online is the video of our performance at Mochavation or the video of us playing Hey Ya at Bandfest this last year. Neither of them are good quality videos, but are still very large files. If you'd like any of this stuff sent to you, get a hold of me online (whatuhhh) and we can try to arrange a file transfer over AIM.
